We are a small but perfectly formed yarn shop in the heart of Hay on Wye, known around the world as The Town of Books. We sell books, hooks, needles, notions and lots and lots of lovely yarn.
What we love about Cambrian Wool -
When we opened the shop in 2021, we were looking for a Welsh wool that offered the right combination of softness, strength and sheer squishability. And so, our ‘yarnmance’ with Cambrian Wool began. We knew that our customers, both locals and visitors to the town, would fall in love with the sheer depth of colour Cambrian yarns possess and that once squished they would be difficult to put down: perfect for colourwork and heirloom projects.
As well as Cambrian Wool we also stock -a range of Stylecraft and West Yorkshire Spinners yarn, alongside yarns from Wensleydale Long Wool and Eden Cottage Yarns. We are currently the only stockist of Sheared Treasure, a local undyed yarn from a not-for-slaughter flock and, last but not least, we sell our own hand-dyed yarns. These are called Dyed by the Book yarn and each skein of 100g 4ply is dyed with a bookish theme in mind … perfect for a shop based in Hay on Wye! We also stock a wide range of Knit Pro hooks and needles alongside wool wash, project bags, tape measures, stitch markers and other useful notions. At certain times of the year, we run workshops at a local gallery … beginners’ sock knitting a speciality.
