Beginner Sewing with Suzi Saturday 19th April

£40.00

Saturday 19th April

Learning how to use a sewing Machine

10 am to 4 pm (an hour for lunch - if needed).

Come for a day with me to learn to sew on a sewing machine.

This days course would suit anyone wanting to learn how to use a machine for the first time, or as a refresher course for someone who wishes to re-visit their sewing. I have had a lot of people in the past come who maybe learned at school and want to pick up their sewing skills again.

I will provide fabric for sewing onto (Calico) machines where needed and threads, scissors etc. I suggest you bring a notebook and pen for your own notes.

Teas and coffees will be provided during the day.

We will break for lunch and you are invited to visit one of the lovely shops in Newcastle Emlyn (Crwst is just up the road)… OR obviously you can bring your own lunch if you prefer.

What will we be doing?

We start the day by learning about all of the different elements of a sewing machine for example:

The presser foot – understanding the uses of the presser foot, adding and removing different feet, zipper foot, free motion embroidery foot (get confident with your screwdriver)!

Winding a bobbin – it makes a difference if this isn’t done properly

Threading the machine – once you know you’ll never forget

Thread tension – this is a ‘biggy’

Stitch length & stitch width  – stitch width settings and adjustments

Needles – types, changing etc

We will also learn about:

Fabric: different qualities and handle, grain lines

Stitching seams, turning corners etc

I provide Handouts so that you have the notes to look at again when you are home.

You will take home a technical file and your samples so that you have reference of what you have learned.

If you wish, I will add you to my sewing WhatsApp group, so that you can ask questions and join a bunch of other lovely Suzi Stitch sewing folk!

The price is £40 for the days tuition

You can bring your own machine or opt on here to bring your own.

Where is our workshop taking place?

We will be in the upstairs workshop at the wonderful Welsh Wool Shop in Newcastle Emlyn
