We will be attending various events and shows every year, not only to promote and sell our lovely wool but also to provide activities and workshops in the field of craft, knitting, sewing, weaving and crochet. You may already know that as a CIC we have committed ourselves (amongst other things) to:
“support and encourage traditional skills and engage with local communities and others to raise awareness of wool production in the region”.
One of the ways that we will be able to do this is by attending craft fairs, events and other community based projects, to bring the craft skills and techniques which we have learned and perfected over the years, and teach them to you!
You will know that the interest in craft is rising and the benefits from being a ‘crafter’ are widely promoted. The BBC recently showed a programme on craft and making called Make! Craft Britain. The programme emphasised the enjoyment and satisfaction that the participants felt, not only in the learning of new skills (and making something beautiful) but also in the meeting of new, creative and like-minded people. You can see the programme here Make! Craft Britain
So if you would like to come and see us and maybe pick up a new technique or two we will be at the following events:
2nd – 3rd July
Big Skill events offer demonstrations, workshops and ‘have a go’ opportunities for a wide variety of crafts and rural skills. We’ll be offering knit, stitch and crochet all using our beautiful wool. We will also have our yarns for sale.
Big Skill Festival, Hay Castle, Hay on Wye.
This is the same weekend as Hay Food Festival (2nd) and Hay Does Vintage (3rd) so should be a fun weekend
16th – 17th – 18th September
The Good Life Experience, Hawarden Estate, Flintshire
24th – 25th September
28th – 30th October
Made by Hand, City Hall, Cardiff
We’ll be running some workshops here, and have our yarns for sale too.
So we hope that we will meet you at some point in the year at one of these events.
