Our Projects and Plans

Our range of wool and yarns for handknitters, feltmakers and crafters will provide the income for our Community Interest Company, enabling us to fulfil our CIC aims as we get involved in various projects, especially those that contribute to skills development and raising the profile of Welsh produced wool.

One such project is working with undergraduate textile students at Coleg Sirgar (Carmarthen College), by providing the brief and yarns for their final collections; we are also in discussions with the organisers of a Film Festival who see Welsh wool as a different material to use in the awards.

Cambrian Mountains Wool is a member of the Big Skill CIC, which organises workshops and demonstrations at festivals and shows around Wales, and we’ll be joining in to provide yarns, wool and tuition at selected events.

The longer term will see us looking into something held dear since the early days of ‘what shall we do about the wool…?’ : a marketing label to promote Welsh Wool, a quality label that will particularly help support the many small individual makers using our valuable national resource.

Developing high quality, consistent and repeatable Welsh Wool weaving yarns is also high on our list of things to do.

We are always open to discussions about collaborations in community and educational projects, so do get in touch if this is of interest.
